It's Not You, It's We (2010)

It’s Not You, It’s We is a short experimental narrative featuring conversations between Helen, a bitter pragmatist and Bernie, an eccentric video artist. It uses traditional narrative forms combined with a non-narrative structure to define their relationship to themselves and to one another. The film is composed of conversations broken up by VHS footage aiming to give insight to the character's psyche. The quirky nature of the women’s discussions imply a particular familial relationships- those of sisters, mothers daughters and at times resemble the quarrels of lovers.
It’s Not You, It’s We has screened at Vox Populi Gallery and One Gallery in Philadephia as well as the Philadelphia Institute of Contemporary Art. It premiered in Paris as a part of Access and Paradox, The NOMAD Project. It was nominated for Best Graduate Film, Best Editing, Best Cinematography, and Best Narrative Film at the Diamond Screen Film Festival.
